  • National News:
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the “Statue of Prosperity” in Bengaluru, Karnataka, which is a 108 feet tall bronze statue of Sri Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. The statue has been sculpted by Ram V Sutar.
    • In the recent edition of the ASEAN-India Summit, held in Cambodia, in order to boost cooperation in sectors of public health, renewable energy, and smart agriculture, India announced an additional contribution of US dollar 5 million to the ASEAN-India Science and Technology Fund.
    • The Dil Maange More Short Film Festival (DMMSFF), organized by the Northern Command of the Indian Army began in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. The festival aims at empowering young filmmakers from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
    • The 7th edition of the Amur Falcon Festival was celebrated in the Tamenglong district, Imphal. It was organized by the Manipur Forest Authority.
    • The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government ordered a complete ban on the public display of weapons and songs glorifying violence.

      • At least 6 people were killed and several injured in a bomb blast that happened at Istanbul Shopping Street, Turkey.
  • Important Days:
    • Every year November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day (Bal Diwas) across India. This day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
    • Every year November 14 is observed as World Diabetes Day (WDD) across the world. It is a joint initiative of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The theme of WDD-2022 is, “Access to Diabetes Education”.

    • The Indian Navy conducted a biannual offshore security exercise, “Prasthan” on an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) platform 150 km into the sea.     • Nobel laureate Venki Ramakrishnan was awarded the prestigious Order of Merit by Britain’s King Charles III in recognition of his distinguished service in the field of Science.
  • Obituary:
    • Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who lived in the Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, France, for 18 years, passed away at the age of 76. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ 2004 movie, “The Terminal”, was inspired by Nasseri.
    • Actor and voice artist, Kevin Conroy, passed away at the age of 66. He was best known as the voice behind Batman in animated series and video games.
