  • Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has launched a program called the "CM's Sukhashray Sahayata Kosh," which has a budget of INR 101 crore. The aim of this program is to provide higher education opportunities to needy children and destitute women.
  • The R.T.M. Nagpur University in Nagpur, Maharashtra, will host the 108th Indian Science Congress (ISC) from January 3–7, 2023. On January 3, 2023, Indian Science Congress was officially launched via videoconferencing by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  • The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) have launched the SMART (Scope for Mainstreaming Ayurveda Research in Teaching Professionals) program.

  • The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is prepared to launch India's first Atmamirbhar human flight, "Gaganyaan," by the year 2024, according to an announcement by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister for Science and Technology.
  • Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defense (MoD), has dedicated 28 infrastructure projects worth INR 724 crores in seven border states/union territories to the nation at an event held at the Siyom Bridge along the Along-Yinkiong Road in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The government of Uttar Pradesh has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth INR 18,590 crores with six companies based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These MoUs were signed in preparation for the "Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023," which will be held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh in February 2023.

    • At the age of 81, the revered spiritual figure Siddeshwar Swami, the seer of Sri Jnanayogashrama in Vijayapura, Karnataka, who was renowned for his learned lectures and compelling oratory, passed away in Karnataka.

    • Sweden has taken over the presidency of the European Union Council for the first half of the year, succeeding the Czech Republic. This change in leadership occurs on January 1st of each year.

    • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to prioritize player fitness ahead of the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. As part of this effort, the Yo-Yo test has been reintroduced as a criterion for selecting the Indian national team.
    • In addition to the Yo-Yo test, the Dexa bone scan test will also be part of the selection criteria.
    • To promote safety and inclusivity, the World Boxing Council (WBC), one of the four organisations that oversee boxing, will include a transgender category starting in 2023.

    • Suhail Sameer, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BharatPe, a fintech start-up, has announced his resignation from the CEO position, effective January 7, 2023. He will transition into a strategic adviser role. Nalin Negi, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of BharatPe, will become the interim CEO.
    • Sundararaman Ramamurthy has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BSE Limited (formerly known as the Bombay Stock Exchange).

    • At the Kitaab Kolkata Event, renowned author Shashi Tharoor, a member of parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, published his most recent book, "Ambedkar: A Life," a biography of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. It was published by Aleph books company.
