- The Indian government has launched a new initiative called A-HELP, in which women in remote rural areas will be selected to strengthen livestock-related activities.
- The initiative was launched through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Department of Rural Development and the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
- “A-HELPs” trained under this program will contribute significantly in prevention of various infectious diseases of animals, artificial insemination under Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), animal tagging and animal insurance.
