Current Context: National Capital Region Transport Corporation has named India's first semi-high speed regional rail service as 'RAPIDX'. These trains will run on the 'Regional Rapid Transit System' corridor, which is being implemented to connect major urban areas in the National Capital Region.

  • India is developing its first semi-high-speed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), which will provide connectivity between Delhi and neighboring areas such as Meerut, Alwar, and Panipat.
  • This system, known as 'RAPIDX,' will offer modern, sustainable, convenient, fast, safe, and comfortable travel options at a speed of 182 kmph.
  • The NCRTC aims to launch the 17 km priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai of the 84 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor ahead of schedule in 2023, and the entire first 'RAPIDX' corridor by 2025.

  • The brand's objective is to emphasize its dedication to the decarbonization of the NCR by reducing the number of vehicles on the road and utilizing green energy. E NCRTC is utilizing solar panels at its stations and depots to generate green energy. It is a joint venture between the Central Government and the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
