Current Context: External affairs minister S. Jaishankar concluded his six-day visit to African nations - Uganda, Ethiopia and Mozambique which started from Uganda on 10 April.

  • During his visit to Uganda, he launched the Tulsi Ghat Restoration Project which is an initiative aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Varanasi, the oldest inhabited city in the world.
  • He also inaugurated the NFSU’s Uganda Campus in Jinja province. This is the first overseas campus of India’s National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), which is an institution of national importance and the world’s first university dedicated exclusively to forensic sciences.
  • He took a ride in a ‘Made in India’ train from Maputo to Machava with Mozambican Transport Minister Mateus Magala on April 13, 2023.
  • External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar virtually inaugurated the Buzi Bridge in Mozambique on April 14, 2023. The bridge is part of the 132 km long Tika-Buzi-Nova-Sofala road project and was constructed by India.
