Current Context: The World Health Organization (WHO) has certified Azerbaijan and Tajikistan to have eliminated Malaria in their territories. Certification of malaria elimination is the official recognition of a country's malaria-free status by the World Health Organization.

  • Malaria is transmitted primarily through the bite of an infective female Anopheles mosquito123. Other less common modes of transmission include transfusion of contaminated blood products, congenital transmission and transplantation of an organ from an infected donor.
