    • Kerala has become the first state to launch its own institutional ranking framework called Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF). It was launched by the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) on May 3, 2023

    • Purdue University has entered into a landmark international agreement with the government of India to advance workforce development, research and development, and industry partnerships in semiconductors. The agreement was signed on May 9th, 2023 with the leadership of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in the presence of Honorable Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
    • On May 8th, 2023, Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Government of India along with Hon’ble Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, Government of Canada, co-chaired the sixth India- Canada Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment (MDTI) in Ottawa
    • Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced the Innovative Finance Facility for Climate in Asia and the Pacific (IF-CAP), a landmark program which could significantly ramp up support for the region in the battle against climate change
    • India Business Leader Awards (IBLA) is an annual event hosted by CNBC-TV18 to recognize exceptional leaders, high achievers, and true visionaries in the Indian corporate world.     • Badminton legends Lin Dan (China) and Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) have been elected to the BWF Hall of Fame for 2023. They will be inducted at a ceremony on Friday 26 May at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia
    • Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud launched ‘E-filing 2.0’ that will allow lawyers to file cases online 24X7. Two facilitation centres have been started to help lawyers who do not have these facilities and are not acquainted with the technology
    • Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated ‘Digitizing Asom’ to the public at an event in Guwahati. It is a community project aimed at digitization of rare Assamese journals and books published between 1813 and 1970
    • The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has taken a significant step forward in streamlining the strike-off process of companies with the establishment of the Centre for Processing Accelerated Corporate Exit (C-PACE). This institution aims to simplify procedures, reduce the burden on the Registry, maintain a clean registry, and provide valuable data to stakeholders
    • The United Kingdom has delivered multiple “Storm Shadow” cruise missiles to Ukraine, giving the nation a new long-range strike capability in advance of a highly anticipated counteroffensive against Russian forces. The Storm Shadow is a long-range cruise missile with stealth capabilities, jointly developed by the UK and France, which is typically launched from the air
    • Husky –Ichor. CML Biotech, one of the largest manufacturers of blood collection tubes in India, has installed the world’s first integrated machine ‘Husky –Ichor’, for manufacturing blood collection tubes. The machine is manufactured by Canada-based Husky Technologies, a global leader in injection moulds and moulding machines
    • Soaring Eagle exercise is a large-scale aerial drill that recently took place over the Korean Peninsula. It involved more than 60 South Korean aircraft and consisted of aerial combat scenarios, ground-to-air missile simulations and aerial refueling training.
    • The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently issued a directive to telecom operators to address the issue of misuse of telemarketing message templates under Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations, 2018 (TCCCPR-2018). This move aims to reduce pesky messages and enhance the overall communication experience for users
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a campaign called ‘100 Days 100 Pays’ with an aim to return the amounts in unclaimed deposits to their rightful owners or claimants. According to the RBI, banks will start the campaign from June 01, 2023
    • The 5th Edition of Global Ayurveda Festival (GAF 2023) will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, from December 1 to 5 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Karyavattom. The focal theme of GAF 2023 is ‘Emerging challenges in healthcare & a resurgent Ayurveda’
    • Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, recently became the first city in India to adopt the localisation of the United Nations-mandated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative, known as Voluntary Local Review (VLR), aims to translate the global agenda into local actions and impacts that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs
    • According to the report, during the study period (1982–2019), a significant increasing trend in the intensity, frequency, and duration of cyclonic storms (CS) and very severe CS (VSCS) is observed over the Arabian Sea (ARB).

    • International Nurses Day 2023 is a special day to celebrate the contributions of nurses to the health and well-being of people around the world. It falls on Friday, 12 May, which is also the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The theme for this year’s International Nurses Day is “Our Nurses, Our Future.”

    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently issued a directive to banks and financial institutions, urging them to adopt an Alternative Reference Rate by July 11. This transition comes as part of a global effort to move away from the scandal-ridden London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) and Mumbai Interbank Forward Outright Rate (MIFOR)
    • Profectus Capital has received the Certificate of Registration (CoR) from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to provide factoring services to MSMEs. The CoR has been granted by the apex bank under the Factoring Regulations Act, 201
    • The World Bank has approved an $82 million loan towards the adoption of global best practices for animal health management to prevent, detect, and respond to endemic zoonotic, transboundary, and emerging infectious diseases in India
    • Market regulator SEBI has granted final approval for the proposed change in control of HDFC AMC in a letter dated May 10, 2023 to HDFC Asset Management Company Limited, a subsidiary of HDFC Ltd, and the investment manager of HDFC AMC AIF II
