    • On May 28, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new building of Parliament House and dedicated it to the nation. He installed the Sengol with Nandi at the top facing East-West direction in the new Parliament House and placed the historic sceptre ‘Sengol’ near the Lok Sabha Speaker’s chair in the newly built Parliament building

    • Osmania University scientist Dr Bhargavi Srinivasulu and her son Aditya Srinivasulu, a PhD scholar at the University of Reading in the UK. The new species, found in a cave at Makuta in Kodagu district of Karnataka, has been named Miniopetrus Srinii or Srini’s Bent-winged Bat, after Dr Bhargavi’s husband and renowned bat biologist from Osmania University, Prof C Srinivasulu
    • Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from IPL after the IPL 2023 final set to be played between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He has also announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket

    • Razorpay has launched a new service called Turbo UPI that allows customers of online merchants to make UPI payments directly without getting redirected to a third-party UPI app during checkout.
    • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a USD 350 million special policy-based loan to provide budget support to Sri Lanka for its economic stabilization. The program is part of a broader package of financial assistance anchored by the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Extended Fund Facility for the country

    • Triple jumper T. Selva Prabhu broke Arpinder Singh’s 12-year-old junior National record while winning the gold at the Venizelia-Chania international meet, a World Athletics Continental Tour-Bronze event on Sunday
    • MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, became the first Indian to record 300 dismissals in T20 cricket during the IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday
    • Indian shuttler HS Prannoy won his first-ever BWF World Tour title at the Malaysia Masters Super 500 tournament by defeating China’s Weng Hong Yang
    • Max Verstappen won the Monaco Grand Prix for the second time in 2023. He converted his maiden pole position in the principality for his fourth victory of 2023 to extend his Formula One championship lead

    • World Hunger Day for the year 2023 is celebrated/observed on Sunday, May 28th.
