  • National:
    • NITI Aayog released the “Best Practices in Social Sector: A Compendium, 2023” in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This compendium includes 75 case studies cutting across 14 key social sectors

    • Visa has introduced a CVV-free feature for tokenised cards in India, streamlining the online transaction process and allowing merchants who implement this feature to only need to verify the three-digit CVV once when tokenising the card, eliminating the need for customers to enter it for every domestic transaction
    • King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023 in the UK’s first coronation since 1953. The ceremony was attended by more than 2,300 guests including over 100 heads of state and involved a mile-long parade with 7,000 troops and 19 military bands
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched development projects worth more than Rs 5,500 crore in Rajasthan on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. He also addressed a public rally organised by the party at Abu Road in Sirohi district

    • The first C295 for India has successfully completed its maiden flight on May 5 in Seville, Spain. It is a new-generation tactical airlifter that will replace the Indian Air Force’s ageing AVRO fleet

    • Max Verstappen of Red Bull won the F1 Miami Grand Prix 2023. He drove from ninth to victory and this win is his third victory of the 2023 Formula 1 season

    • The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) gold reserves increased by 34.22 tonnes year-on-year to reach 794.64 metric tonnes at March-end 2023.
    • Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the Oil Ministry, India’s fuel consumption eased 0.3% year-on-year to 18.41 million tonnes in April 2023
  • International:
    • Chinese President Xi Jinping will host a two-day summit with the leaders of five Central Asian nations next week, Beijing said on Monday, as China moves to increase its influence in the region
    • Indian weightlifters finished the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2023 in Jinju, South Korea with three silver medals. Bindyarani Devi won two silvers in the women’s 55kg category while Jeremy Lalrinnunga bagged a silver in the men’s 67kg snatch section
