MoHUA and MoR jointly ink MoU with JICA for Project SMART

Current Context: Project SMART is a collaboration between MoHUA, MoR and JICA was signed on May 8, 2023 to develop the surrounding areas of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Railway (MAHSR) stations to enhance accessibility, convenience and economic activities.

• The MoU was signed for four stations: Sabarmati, Surat, Virar and Thane. The project aims to facilitate and enhance the institutional capacity of state governments, municipal corporations and urban development authorities to plan, develop and manage the station areas
