- Jim Hines, the Olympic champion in track and field who became the first person to run the 100-meter dash in under 10 seconds, passed away on June 3, 2023 at the age of 76. He was a two-time Olympic gold medalist and his world record time of 9.95 seconds lasted for 15 years until it was broken in 1983
- Sulochana Latkar passed away at the age of 94 on June 4, 2023. She was known for her work in both Hindi and Marathi cinema and had acted in more than 250 Marathi films. She was honored with the Padma Shri Award in 1999
- Manoj Misra was a renowned environmental activist and former Indian Forest Service officer who passed away at the age of 68 due to COVID-19 complications. He was the founder of the Yamuna Jiye Abhiyan, a movement dedicated to the revival of the Yamuna river
