Khelo India University Games 2022 Held in UP: Panjab University tops Medal Tally

Current Context: Khelo India University Games 2022 held in UP. It was a grand event that showcased the talent and potential of the university athletes from across the country.

• Panjab University topped the medal tally with 69 medals (26 gold, 17 silver and 26 bronze). The games were inaugurated by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on 5th May 2023 in Lucknow.
• The games were held in four cities of Uttar Pradesh: Gautam Buddha Nagar, Lucknow, Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
• The official mascot of the games was Jeetu, a representation of the Barasingha, an endangered deer species found in Uttar Pradesh.
