BBMP & World Design Organisation Signed MoU

Current Context: MoU signed between BBMP and World Design Organisation to develop the infrastructure of Bengaluru. The MoU was signed on Monday, July 25, 2023 in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and delegates from WDO in the Vidhana Soudha.

• The WDO is a Canada-based non-governmental organisation that promotes the profession of industrial design and its contribution to social, cultural, economic and environmental quality. It has over 150 member organisations from more than 40 countries.
• The MoU is part of the Brand Bangalore Development Partnership Agreement, which aims to make Bengaluru a world-class city with improved design and aesthetics of public infrastructure projects such as flyovers, skywalks, bus stands, footpaths, and waterways.
• The MoU is valid for five years and the state government will provide a total of Rs 200 crore for the project. Around 79% of the grant (Rs 159.50 crore) will be used for developing prototypes of various projects, while the remaining Rs 40.50 crore will be spent on the secretariat, hosting WDO events and preparing a study to assess the impact of the programme.
