• Banking:
• HDFC Bank will dethrone Reliance Industries as the bluechip with the heaviest weightage in Nifty 50, effective July 13, 2023. This is because HDFC shares will delist on that date, following the reverse merger of HDFC Bank and HDFC. As a result, HDFC Bank's weightage in Nifty 50 will increase to 14.43%, while Reliance Industries' weightage will decrease to 10.8%.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will introduce UPI QR codes for CBDC transactions by the end of July. This means that customers will be able to use the same QR code for both UPI and CBDC payments, making it more convenient and easy to use digital currency.
• Infosys has deferred salary hikes for employees by 6 months. This means that employees who were expecting a salary hike in April 2023 will now only receive it in October 2023.
• Awards:
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2023 on August 1, the 103rd death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak. The award is given annually by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust (Hind Swaraj Sangh) to individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation in the fields of politics, social work, education, and culture.

• World Paper Bag Day is celebrated on July 12 every year to raise awareness about the environmental benefits of using paper bags instead of plastic bags. The theme for World Paper Bag Day 2023 was "If You're Fantastic, Do Something Dramatic, To Cut The Plastic, Use Paper Bags."
• 42nd Foundation Day of NABARD was celebrated on July 12, 2023. The bank has played a significant role in promoting rural development in India, and the Foundation Day is a time to celebrate its achievements.
• Sports:
• The 2023 World Archery Youth Championships is an international archery tournament for young archers in the under-21 and under-18 age categories. It is organized by World Archery, the governing body of the sport. The event is being held in Limerick, Ireland from July 3 to July 9, 2023 at the University of Limerick.
• India was the second-most successful country at the championships, winning 11 medals, including six gold, one silver, and four bronze. Parth Salunkhe became the first Indian male archer to win the Youth World Championship in the recurve category. South Korea was the top-ranked nation at the championships, winning 10 medals, including six gold and four silver medals.
