    • Indian hurdler Jyothi Yarraji, triple jumper Abdulla Aboobacker and middle-distance runner Ajay Kumar Saroj won gold medals at the Asian Athletics Championships 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
    • Ajay Kumar Saroj won the gold medal in the men’s 1500m final at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand. He finished the race with a timing of 3:41.511. India won a total of six gold medals at the event.
    • Indian Paralympic gold medallist Sumit Antil created a world record in F64 javelin throw with a best attempt of 70.83m at the World Para-Athletics Championship in Paris.
    • The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that men’s and women’s teams competing in ICC events will receive equal prize money from now on. Teams will get the same amount of money when they finish in the equivalent position at comparable events.
    • Indian badminton players PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen progressed to the quarter-finals of the US Open 2023 BWF Super 300 tournament on Thursday.
    • Sri Lanka sealed the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier crown with a comfortable 128-run victory over the Netherlands in the final in Harare.
  • Banking:
    • Max Life Insurance has partnered with DCB Bank to provide a variety of life insurance products to the bank’s customers. Term, savings, and retirement plans will be offered under this partnership.
    • Razorpay India has launched its first international payment gateway in Malaysia through Curlec, now known as ‘Curlec By Razorpay’. The new Curlec Payment Gateway will serve more than 5,000 businesses with a target of RM10 billion in annualised Gross Transaction Value (GTV) by 2025.
  • Obituary:
    • Nikki McCray-Penson, a former basketball star and two-time Olympic gold medal winner, has passed away at the age of 51. The cause of death was not announced, but McCray-Penson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013.
  • Appointments:
    • Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al-Sabah was elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia at the 42nd OCA General Assembly in Bangkok, Thailand on July 8, 2023. He received 24 of the 44 votes cast.
