Current Context: The Odisha Cabinet recently approved the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme, allocating a budget of Rs 4,000 crore. The scheme aims to enhance rural infrastructure and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state, particularly the Jagannath culture.

  • The vision of the scheme is to transform Odisha into a modern and aspirational state while retaining the essence, soul, and spirit of Jagannath culture, which is deeply rooted in the region.
  • The scheme also seeks to empower women, youth, and provide digital and sports facilities.The scheme will cover all Gram Panchayats in each Block of the State with the entitlement of Rs. 50 lakh.
  • The project cost will be between Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs10 lakh. The projects under the scheme will be suggested or recommended by local people, community organizations, public representatives and other stakeholders.
