Current Context: India hosted the Global Food Regulators Summit 2023 in New Delhi on July 20 and 21. This was the first time this important event was conducted outside of Rome, Italy.

• The summit, organized as a G20 event, aimed to foster collaborative efforts in enhancing food safety standards worldwide.
• The summit also witnessed the launch of some digital platforms such as Indian Food-o-Copoeia, Common Digital Dashboard, and Food Authorities Directory.
• The summit was inaugurated by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India, and also featured an audio-visual message from Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
• The summit received global acclaim for its potential to transform and strengthen the world’s food safety systems.
