Ministry of Textile & Gujarat govt signed MoU

Current Context: The Ministry of Textiles and the Government of Gujarat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 23rd December 2022 to set up a PM MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in Navasari, Gujarat.

• This is one of the seven PM MITRA Parks that the Government of India has announced to boost the textile sector in the country.
• A PM MITRA Park is a special industrial zone focused on developing the Indian textile sector by creating an integrated textile value chain that spans from farming to fashion.
• It will offer an opportunity to create an integrated textiles value chain right from spinning, weaving, processing/dyeing and printing to garment manufacturing at a single location.
• It will also provide world-class industrial infrastructure, cutting edge technology, FDI and local investment, innovation and job creation within the sector.
• The PM MITRA Park in Navasari, Gujarat will be developed by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) which will be owned by the State Government and the Government of India in a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode.
