MoRD Launches eSARAS App for Products From Women SHGs

Current Context: The eSARAS mobile app is an initiative by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna- National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), a flagship program of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), to support the e-commerce initiatives of self-help groups (SHGs).

• The app will be used as a platform for marketing products made by women of SHGs, such as handicrafts, handlooms, food products, etc.
• The app was launched by Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, on July 3, 2023.
• He also inaugurated the eSARAS Fulfillment Centre at the Ministry’s Janakpuri office in New Delhi, which will be used for processing, packaging and shipping of products that customers purchase through the eSARAS portal and app.
• The fulfillment centre will be managed by the Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains (FDRVC), a not for profit company constituted jointly by the Ministry of Rural Development and Tata Trust.
