Airtel Payments Bank Launches India’s 1st Eco-Friendly Debit Card

Current Context: Airtel Payments Bank has recently launched India’s first eco-friendly debit card, which is made from recycled PVC material. This is a very innovative and sustainable initiative, as it reduces the environmental impact of conventional PVC cards, which are widely used in the banking industry.

• According to the bank, every batch of 50,000 eco-friendly cards will save 350 kgs of carbon emissions, 43% of hydrocarbon usage, and 6.6 million litres of water. The bank also claims that this is the first step towards creating a green revolution in banking.
• The eco-friendly debit card comes in two variants: Personalised Classic Card and Insta Classic Card. The Personalised Card can be ordered through the Airtel Thanks app, while the Insta Card will be available at select neighbourhood banking points by the end of this quarter.
• Both cards offer rewards such as e-commerce benefits of up to Rs 10,000 and free One Dines experiences across major cities in India. The card can be used for online and offline transactions, as well as for withdrawing cash from ATMs.
