Arunachal Signed MoU with NGI

Current Context: Arunachal Pradesh signed a MoU with NGI to harness geothermal potentials on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. The MoU was signed by state science and technology secretary Repo Ronya and Dr Rajinder Bhasin, a technical expert from NGI, in the presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

• The aim of the MoU is to explore the feasibility of harnessing the geothermal potential that the state’s numerous hot springs offer.
• Geothermal energy is a renewable and clean source of energy that can replace fossil fuels and reduce CO2 emissions.
• The MoU also marks the beginning of a cooperation between Arunachal Pradesh and Norway in various sectors, such as road construction and tunneling.
• Norway has expertise and experience in these fields, as well as in geothermal energy development. The MoU was signed on World Tourism Day, which had the theme of “Tourism & Green Investment”.
