Bengaluru Established 500 kVA Underground Power Transformer Station

Current Context: The underground power transformer station in Bengaluru is the first of its kind in India. It is located at 15th Avenue, Malleswaram, and was developed in collaboration with BESCOM and BBMP at a cost of Rs 1.98 crore.

• It was inaugurated by Energy Minister KJ George on September 9, 2023.It has a 500 kVA capacity oil-free transformer, which is installed at a depth of 10 feet below the road’s surface.
• The underground power transformer station has several benefits for the city and its residents.
