  • National:
    • The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) in India has launched five transformative initiatives to foster inclusivity and empower persons with disabilities.

    • GQG Partners, a US-based investment firm, acquired over 5 crore shares in IDFC First Bank from V Vaidyanathan, the MD and CEO of the bank. The transaction was a block trade. The proceeds of the sale, net of STT and other brokerage charges, amount to Rs 478.7 crore.
    • Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai launched the ‘Mashaal’ for the 37th National Games at a program held in Durbar Hall Raj Bhavan, Donapaula. The 37th National Games will be held in Goa from October 25 to November 9.
    • The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Transport Department of Kerala to expand the scope of the open mobility network in the state.
    • Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer has released six special postal covers on “Manyam Viplava Saradhi Alluri Sitarama Raju” in honour of unsung heroes through the medium of philately.
    • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the Nyoma airfield near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The strategic Nyoma belt in eastern Ladakh will soon have a new airfield, according to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
    • The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) organized the ‘Vaishali Festival of Democracy’ at Nalanda University in Bihar. This festival was held on Friday, September 15, which also coincides with the International Day of Democracy.
    • The ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu on September 13. This campaign is a significant step towards redefining healthcare accessibility and inclusivity across India.
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated several rail sector projects in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The projects, worth around Rs 6,350 crores. These projects are expected to bolster regional connectivity and contribute to tourism and employment.
    • Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal represented India at the Eastern Economic Forum, 2023, which was held in Vladivostok, Russia from September 10 to 13. He met with several Russian ministers and discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of ports, shipping, waterways and trade

    • Professor Sir Ian Wilmut, the British scientist who led the team that created Dolly the sheep, the world’s first cloned mammal from an adult cell, has passed away at the age of 79. His pioneering work at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh laid the foundations for stem cell research and the field of regenerative medicine.
    • Dennis Austin, the co-creator of PowerPoint, passed away at the age of 76 in his home in Los Altos, California on September 11.Dennis Austin was a visionary behind the creation of PowerPoint. He worked with Robert Gaskins, the Forethought executive who conceived the software.

    • National Forest Martyrs Day is observed every year on September 11th in India. This day is a tribute to those brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice while courageously protecting the forests and wildlife, which hold immense significance for the overall health of our planet.
    • The United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation was celebrated on September 12, 2023.
