  • National:
    • 12th Round of Ministerial India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) held in New Delhi on 11th September 2023, India and the United Kingdom (UK) announced the launch of the UK-India Infrastructure Financing Bridge (UKIIFB). This is a collaborative initiative aimed at leveraging expertise and investment in support of India’s National Infrastructure Pipeline

    • Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has indeed inaugurated 90 infrastructure projects of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), worth over Rs 2,900 crore. These projects are spread across 11 States/Union Territories.
    • The government inaugurated the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) and laid the foundation stone for 141 PM Shri Schools and the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential School in Dehradun, Uttarakhand
    • The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) organized a workshop on Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) in collaboration with UNICEF and the National Stock Exchange at the NSE premises in Mumbai on September 12, 2023
    • The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended the waiver of the domestic content requirement (DCR) for solar cells under Component C of the PM KUSUM Scheme. This decision was made in response to the difficulties faced by stakeholders in meeting the DCR requirements for solar cells
    • Hindalco Industries Limited, the world’s largest aluminium rolling and recycling company, has signed a technology partnership with Italy-based Metra SpA, renowned for its expertise in producing structured and value-added aluminium extrusions.
    • The Geological Survey of India Training Institute (GSITI) in Hyderabad has signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru. This MoU is part of the National Natural Resources Management System (NNRMS) program
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Downstream Petrochemical Complex and Refinery Expansion Project at BPCL’s Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh on September 14, 2023.
    • Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh launched a dedicated web portal for monitoring the Special Campaign 3.0 on Thursday, 14th September 2023. The portal, scdpm.nic.in, will serve as a platform for monitoring the Swachhata campaign
    • The Supreme Court of India has recently onboarded the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) portal, marking the completion of the flagship e-Courts project. The NJDG portal is a national repository of data relating to cases instituted, pending, and disposed of by the courts across India.
    • The 4th and the last meeting of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) held under India’s G20 presidency, successfully concluded in Varanasi. The two-day meeting witnessed proactive engagement from over 80 delegates from G20 member countries, invitee countries and International Organisations including World Bank, New Development Bank, among others.
    • The Union Cabinet has recently approved the extension of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for release of 75 lakh LPG connections over three years from Financial Year 2023-24 to 2025-26
  • Economy:
    • India marked the one-year anniversary of the launch of the National Logistics Policy (NLP) on 17th September 2023. The NLP was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2022.
    • The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has indeed emerged as the leading ministry out of 56 ministries/departments that participate in the Government-e-Marketplace (GeM), holding the top position in both order value and order quantity.
  • World:
    • The European Central Bank (ECB) has indeed hiked its key interest rate. This is part of their ongoing fight against stubbornly high inflation. The increase of a quarter-percentage point has raised the ECB’s benchmark deposit rate to 4%, up drastically from minus 0.5% just a little more than a year ago.
  • Important Days:
    • World Duchenne Awareness Day is observed on September 7 each year. This day was created by the World Duchenne Organisation to raise awareness of Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophies.the theme for World Duchenne Awareness Day was 'Breaking Barriers’.
  • Appointments:
    • Sindhu Gangadharan, who is the Senior Vice President and Managing Director at SAP Labs India and also responsible for SAP User Enablement, has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM).
