    • The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) in India has extended the tenure of the Company Law Committee by one year. The committee was initially set to expire on 16th September 2023.

    • The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has indeed launched India’s first contactless payment wearable called the “OTG Ring” during the Global Fintech Fest, 2023.
    • IndusInd Bank has indeed launched a ‘Virtual Commercial Credit Card’ in collaboration with Visa and Juspay. This credit card is designed to redefine cross-border transactions for corporates and travel agents.
    • Global Economic Outlook report by Fitch Ratings in September 2023, India’s growth forecast has been retained at 6.3% for the fiscal year 2024.
    • The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam is a basic income scheme for women launched by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. This scheme provides monthly financial assistance to eligible women family heads across the state of Tamil Nadu.
    • The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved the procurement of 12 Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF). These aircraft will be manufactured in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
    • The Telangana government has announced a new scheme called the ‘Chief Minister’s Breakfast’ (Mukhyamantri Alpahara) to provide free breakfast to students studying in government schools across the state.The scheme will be launched on October 24 as a Dasara gift to students.
    • The Sangeet Natak Akademi announced special one-time awards, known as the ‘Amrit’ awards, to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. These awards were given to 84 artists who are above the age of 75 years and haven’t been accorded any national honour in their career so far.
  • Economy:
    • The Finance Ministry has indeed notified the constitution of 31 Appellate Tribunals across 28 States and eight Union Territories for the Goods and Services Tax (GST). This move is aimed at resolving a growing number of taxpayer disputes with the Revenue Department.
  • Sports:
    • In the Tata Steel Chess Tournament, G. Teswaini claimed the championship in the classical event. Following that, Bommini Mounika Akshaya won the blitz title. This tournament is one of the most prestigious events in the international chess calendar.
    • Riya Sachdeva indeed won a double crown in the Asian under-16 tennis championship. She won both the singles and doubles titles in the tournament held at the Singha Sports Academy
    • Indian Oil has indeed become the title sponsor of the first-ever MotoGP race in India, MotoGP Bharat. The event took place at the Buddh International Circuit from September 22 to 24, with 42 teams and 84 riders competing across multiple categories.
