India enters MoUs with 8 countries to offer them Digital Stack

Current Context: India has entered into eight memorandums of understandings (MoUs) with countries such as Armenia, Sierra Leone, Suriname, Antigua, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Papua New Guinea and Mauritius, offering them the India Stack and DPI at no cost and with open-source access.

  • India’s Digital Stack is a set of APIs that allows the government and private companies to deploy cashless and paperless technology products. DPI stands for Digital Public Infrastructure, which is a term that describes the shared building blocks of digital services, such as digital identification, payments system and data exchange layer.
  • These countries can use India’s DPI to foster innovation and inclusion, expand markets, improve public services and boost their digital economy.
  • India’s DPI has also gained global recognition and consensus at the G20 Digital Economy Ministers’ Meeting held last month. India offered to manage the DPI repository and share its best practices with other countries.
  • The meeting also discussed the importance of cybersecurity and digital skills for a fast-paced growing economy.
