Himachal CM Sukhu launches SABAL Yojna

Current Context: SABAL stands for Sporting Abilities, Rebuilding Aspirations and Livelihood Scheme launched by the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on September 4, 2023.

• The scheme aims to provide essential facilities and opportunities for specially-abled children in the state. It covers around 400 schools across Hamirpur, Solan and Shimla districts.
• It provides a provision of two per cent reservation in government jobs for specially-abled individuals.It enhances the education stipend provided to specially-abled children to Rs. 1000.
• It also launches AI-powered chatbots such as ‘Abhyas Himachal’ and ‘Shikshak Sahayata’ that enable students and teachers to revise lessons, take quizzes and access educational videos from their mobile phones.
• The SABAL Yojna is a part of the state government’s efforts to improve the lives of specially-abled children and empower them with sporting abilities, aspirations and livelihood skills.
