Indian Army Participates Counter Terrorism Field Training Exercise 2023

Current Context: The ADMM Plus EWG on Counter-terrorism is a platform for ASEAN and its eight Dialogue Partners, including India, to strengthen security and defence cooperation for peace, stability, and development in the region.

• The Field Training Exercise (FTX) 2023 is a multinational joint military exercise hosted by Russia and Myanmar, co-chairs of the EWG, from 25th to 30th September 2023.
• The exercise aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of the participating countries in counter-terrorism operations.
• The Indian Army Contingent consists of 32 personnel from a Battalion affiliated to the RAJPUTANA RIFLES, one of the oldest and most decorated infantry regiments of the Indian Army.
• The ADMM Plus EWG on Counter-terrorism is one of the seven EWGs established under the ADMM Plus framework to facilitate practical cooperation in areas of common interest.
• The other six EWGs are on maritime security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, peacekeeping operations, military medicine, humanitarian mine action, and cyber security.
