MSDE Minister launches ‘Skills on Wheels’ with NSDC and IndusInd Bank

Current Context: ‘Skills on Wheels’ initiative was launched on September 17, 2023 at a flagging-off ceremony attended by Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Speaker, Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla.

• The initiative aims to empower 60,000 rural youth, especially women, over a period of five years by providing them with relevant skills training that will improve their livelihoods and make them job and future-ready.
• The initiative will use a customized bus with retrofitted tools to promote the Skill India Mission across the length and breadth of aspirational and backward districts
• The initiative will focus on providing key digital skills to the rural youth, such as basic computer literacy, internet usage, online banking, digital payments, e-commerce, social media, etc.
• The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and IndusInd Bank.
• The NSDC will provide the curriculum, content, trainers, and certification for the skill training programs. IndusInd Bank will provide financial support and guidance for the initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
