Delhi government launched the Green War Room

Current Context: The Delhi government launched the Green War Room to implement the Winter Action Plan against air pollution.The Green War Room started functioning 24x7 in Delhi from October 3, 2023.

• The Green War Room is a team of experts who monitor all sources contributing to Delhi’s air pollution and ensure that the city administration is on track regarding implementing its action plan.
• It also has state-of-the-art air quality monitoring equipment and a green Delhi app that allows citizens to report any activity that causes pollution with pictures.

Some of the measures that are part of the Winter Action Plan are:

• Spraying PUSA bio-decomposer on stubble on around 5,000 acres this year.
• Identifying 13 hotspots where pollution is high and making a specific action plan for each hotspot.
• Deploying 530 water sprinklers to prevent dust pollution at 13 hotspots.
• Forming 385 teams to check vehicles’ pollution certificates and prevent the plying of overage cars.
