Current Context: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the third two-day “Anti-Terror Conference” on October 5, 2023, at the National Investigation Agency (NIA) headquarters in New Delhi.

  • The conference aimed to discuss the recent challenges posed by terrorism, especially by Khalistani groups operating from foreign soil, and to devise a coordinated action plan to counter them.
  • Shah also called for a “ruthless” approach towards terrorism and urged the police forces to focus on dismantling the “terror eco-system” that supports terrorists.
  • He also suggested that a model anti-terrorism structure be established under the purview of NIA.
