HP CM Launched Sukh Ashraya Yojana for Orphans

Current Context: Sukh Ashraya Yojana is a scheme launched by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on October 3, 2023 to provide comprehensive support to orphans, specially-abled children, destitute women, and elderly individuals in the state.

• The scheme aims to provide proper care, protection, development, and self-reliance to these vulnerable sections of society and help them reintegrate into the mainstream of society.
• The scheme offers various benefits such as monthly financial assistance, education and coaching fees, laptops, land and housing assistance, marriage and startup assistance, foster care and sponsorship, and monthly picnics.
• The scheme is the first-of-its-kind initiative in the country to adopt the orphans and specially-abled children as the ‘children of the state’ and work for their upliftment and wellbeing.
• The government has allocated Rs 101 crore for the scheme’s operation and distributed financial benefits worth Rs 4.68 crore to eligible children on the launch day.
