  • National:
    • The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has announced that it will be funding Colombo West International Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (CWIT) – a consortium of India’s largest port operator Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd., Sri Lanka’s leading enterprise John Keells Holdings (JKH) and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority – to the tune of USD 553 million.
    • Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace has become India’s first-ever private firm to secure a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) type certification for indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology. Two of the company’s surveillance drones are already deployed in the heart of New Delhi, carrying out observation of the airspace and grounds around the Prime Minister’s residence.
    • The Taeniogonalos dhritiae is a new species of wasp that was recently discovered in the Ranipuram Hills area in the Western Ghats of Kerala. This species is named after Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, a noted entomologist.
    • Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL) has launched a new AI-driven interactive chatbot named ‘BIRBAL’. This AI-backed chatbot aims to provide efficient and user-friendly citizen services in the local civic body.
    • The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has indeed facilitated the export of the first trial shipment of fresh bananas to the Netherlands.

    • The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) jointly released research indicating that nearly 1 in 3 deaths from non-melanoma skin cancer is caused by working under the sun.
  • Banking:
    • The Supreme Court of India has recently upheld the validity of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) provisions that allow lenders to initiate insolvency proceedings against personal guarantors of loans taken by defaulting companies.
  • Mous:
    • The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) under the Ministry of Rural Development and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 9, 2023.The primary objective of the MOU is to promote women-led enterprises in India.
    • The Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) Kanpur, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and Dassault Aircraft Services India (DASI) were signed on November 9, 2023.The Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged in the presence of the Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, in New Delhi.
  • Appointments:
    • The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) announced the appointment of Venkat Nageswar Chalasani as the new Chief Executive on November 8, 2023. He will take over the position from NS Venkatesh, who retired after completing two consecutive three-year terms.
  • Obituaries:
    • Veteran Telugu actor Chandra Mohan passed away at the age of 82 due to cardiac arrest on November 11. He was known for his versatile roles and was a veteran in the Telugu film industry. He was well-known for his performances in films like ‘Padaharella Vayasu’ and ‘Siri Siri Muvva’, and had also worked in the Tamil industry.
