  • National:
    • IndiGo Airlines is set to be the first airline to operate flights from the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA). The airport is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2024.

    • Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated Varanasi’s second floating compressed natural gas (CNG) mobile refueling unit (MRU) station at Ravidas Ghat on November 27, 2023.
    • The Bali Jatra Festival in Cuttack, which is considered to be one of Asia’s largest open-air annual trade fairs, has indeed started. This festival is a grand cultural and trade event that attracts crowds from across India. This festival started on 27th November 2023.
    • The Union Health Ministry in India has recently launched generic drugs for four rare diseases. These diseases include: Tyrosinemia-Type, Gauchers Disease, Wilson’s Disease, and Dravet-Lennox Gastaut Syndrome.

    • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the USD 170 million loan to modernize water supply services in Kochi, Kerala, India on November 24, 2023. This project aims to improve urban living standards, ensure clean water access, and enhance climate resilience.
    • Berkshire Hathaway Inc, backed by billionaire Warren Buffett, has sold its entire 2.46% stake in Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications for Rs 1,371 crore. The shares were sold through an open market transaction. This resulted in a loss of about 31% per share. The shares were disposed of at an average price of Rs 877.29 apiece.
  • Science & Technology:
    • A new dinosaur species named Farlowichnus rapidus has been discovered in Brazil. This discovery was based on footprints found in the city of Araraquara. These footprints were first discovered back in the 1980s by Giuseppe Leonardi, an Italian priest and dedicated paleontologist.
  • Economy:
    • S&P Global Ratings revised India’s GDP growth projection for the financial year 2024 on November 27, 2023. S&P Global Ratings has revised India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth projection for the financial year 2024 (April 2023 - March 2024) to 6.4% from 6% earlier. This revision is due to robust domestic momentum offsetting headwinds from high food inflation and weak exports.
  • Sports:
    • India’s Aditi Ashok won the Ladies European Tour season-ending event, the Andalucia Open 2023, in Spain. This was her fifth Ladies European Tour (LET) crown and the second of the season. She carded a 17-under 271 (69-68-68-66) to win the golf event ahead of Netherlands’ Anne Van Dam, who carded 15-under.

    • The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organization in the world, celebrated its 75th Raising Day on November 26, 2023. The theme for the 75th NCC Raising Day was 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’.

    • Paul Lynch’s novel ‘Prophet Song’ has indeed won the Booker Prize 2023. This is his fifth novel. The book is a dystopian tale set in Ireland under tyranny, where rebels must decide between family and liberty.
