  • National:
    • According to the 5th edition of State Food Safety Index (SFSI 2022-2023) by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), with the inclusion of a new parameter (Improvement in SFSI Rank) in the 2023 index, 19 out of 20 large states recorded a drop in their 2023 scores from 2019.

    • The Eastern Air Command (EAC) of the Indian Air Force conducted its annual Command level exercise - Ex Poorvi Akash from October 30 to November 5. The exercise comprised the application of Air Power in all its roles and was conducted by day and night.
    • The Uttar Pradesh government has indeed decided to conduct a comprehensive census of cows. This initiative is aimed at addressing the persistent challenge of stray cattle on the state’s roads.
    • The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), a Mini Ratna (Category – I) Government of India enterprise under the administrative control of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) portal.
    • The Union Government has issued an advisory to significant social media intermediaries to ensure that due diligence is exercised and reasonable efforts are made to identify misinformation and deepfakes.
    • The Supreme Court of India recently expressed concern over Governors of various states refraining from acting on bills passed by their respective State Assemblies.
    • The CCI approved the acquisition of 49% stake of BALIC by BLVPL, from AXA India Holdings and the acquisition of certain shareholding of BMSL by BEL from Societe Beaujon on 6th November 2023.
  • International:
    • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched a sounding rocket as part of its Integral Field Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Experiment (INFUSE) mission. The INFUSE mission was launched from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
    • According to the WHO Global Tuberculosis Report 2022, the number of people who developed TB disease in 2022 was estimated at 7.5 million, a decrease of 18% from 9.2 million in 2019.
    • The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) released the Adaptation Gap Report 2023 on November 2, 2023.
  • Government scheme:
    • The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) in collaboration with the Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Wadhwani AI) has developed Krishi 24/7, the first-ever AI-powered solution for automated agricultural news monitoring and analysis.
    • Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has indeed launched a campaign to expedite the distribution of forest right titles among tribals and other traditional forest dwellers in every panchayat of the state. This campaign is known as ‘Abua Bir Dishom Abhiyan’.
  • Economy:
    • Mundra Port became India’s first port to handle 16.1 million tonnes of cargo in a single month in March 2021, surpassing its own record of 15.9 million tonnes in January 2021.
    • According to a recent report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India is among the top countries with high income and wealth inequality.
  • Awards & Honors:
    • Indian Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi won the FIDE Grand Swiss 2023. He defeated Serbia’s Alexandr Predke in the 11th round to win the tournament with 8.5 points. Vaishali won the FIDE Women's Grand Swiss title after playing out a draw with Mongolia's Batkhuyag Mungutuul in the 11th and final round.
    • Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing won the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. This was his 17th victory of the season. He dominated the race and won by over eight seconds.
