MoRD Signs a Non-Financial MoU with BFIL to Enhance Rural Livestock & Fisheries

Current Context: On March 15, 2024, the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) signed a Non-Financial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (BFIL) in New Delhi.

• This collaboration aims to enhance the livelihood interventions of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), particularly in rural livestock and fisheries development.
• The MoU includes the establishment of a centralized Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) at the national level and state-level PMUs in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar.
• These units will comprise specialists from livestock and Market Linkage. 
• BFIL will also strengthen the role of Pashu Sakhis in providing essential healthcare services to animals.
• The focus areas of this collaboration include facilitating livestock clusters, developing IT-enabled ecosystems, and providing veterinary care and facilitation support to Self-Help Group (SHG) households enrolled in DAY-NRLM.
