- Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Government of Sri Lanka on May 7, 2024. - Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey launched the ‘School on Wheels’ initiative to support students living in relief camps due to ethnic violence. - The second consultation on security and defense between India and the European Union took place in New Delhi on May 6, 2024. - The net household savings in India have declined by Rs 9 lakh crore over the past three years, reaching Rs 14.16 lakh crore in 2022-23. This decline is attributed to a 73% rise in liabilities during 2022-23. Investments in mutual funds and shares have increased, and household loans have also doubled.

- In 2023, India surpassed Japan to become the world’s third-largest producer of solar power, according to the “Global Electricity Review 2023” report by Ember, a UK-based climate think tank. India generated 113 Terawatt-hours (TWh) of solar power, compared to Japan’s 110 TWh, marking a significant 19% year-on-year increase. The transition to renewable energy is critical for achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees.
