TUECO signs a MoU with Nagar Nigam Haridwar to Establish a Waste-to-Green Energy Plant

Current Context: On 29th April 2024, THDCIL - UJVNL Energy Company Limited (TUECO), a Joint Venture of THDC and UJVN Ltd, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagar Nigam Haridwar to establish a Waste to Green Energy Plant in Rishikesh.

• The plant, worth Rs 140 crores, will be established at Sarai, for which Nagar Nigam Haridwar has allocated approximately 10 acres of land.
• The plant aims to process 400 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily, converting it into 140 tonnes of green charcoal, a substance akin to natural coal.
• This green charcoal can then be used as a fuel blend in thermal power plants for electricity generation.
