DEPwD Signs 2 MoUs: One with EMA; Other between ISLRTC & YUNIKEE

Current Context: The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) recently signed two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to empower persons with disabilities on 9th July 2024 in New Delhi.
DEPwD Signs 2 MoUs: One with EMA; Other between ISLRTC & YUNIKEE
  • Here are the details:
    • MoU with Enable Me Access Association (EMA):
      • Objective: To provide training on Universal Design using Indian Accessibility standards and support the Accessible India Campaign 2.0.
      • Key Programs: Launch of advanced accessibility training programs for panel accessibility auditors and engineers of the Central Public Works Department.
      • Other Objectives: Joint training on Indian accessibility standards, development of a software tool for accessibility education, and highlighting and rectifying policies that undermine the RPwD Act-2016 and other mandatory guidelines.
    • MoU between ISLRTC and YUNIKEE:
      • Objective: To provide free and accessible skills to the deaf community and their youth.
      • Impact: Deaf youth can advance their careers, secure high-quality jobs, and become self-reliant through skill training, including freelancing opportunities.
