MoRD & CESL Sign MoU for E-Bikes for DAY-NRLM SHGs

Current Context: The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) on 5th July 2024 in New Delhi.

• The goal of this collaboration is to facilitate “Sustainable Transport for Rural Entrepreneurs through Electric Bicycles” (STREE) for Self Help Group (SHG) Women under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
• STREE aims to empower rural women by providing them access to green mobility through electric bicycles.
• This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of enabling economic and social empowerment in rural areas.
• The project not only enhances livelihood opportunities but also contributes to decarbonizing last-mile mobility.
