National Geoscience Awards have been presented to 21 geoscientists

Current Context: On 20th August 2024, The National Geoscience Awards for 2023 were recently presented to 21 geoscientists by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.

• These awards recognize extraordinary achievements and contributions in various fields of geosciences.
• The awards were given in three categories:
• National Geoscience Award for Lifetime Achievement: This was awarded to Prof. Dhiraj Mohan Banerjee for his pioneering work in phosphorites, isotope geology, and organic geochemistry.
• National Geoscience Award: This category included several individual and team awards for significant contributions in mineral discovery, exploration, and mining technology.
• National Young Geoscientist Award: Dr. Ashutosh Pandey, an Assistant Professor at IISER Thiruvananthapuram, received this award for his innovative work.
