Current Context: On July 7, 2025, at FICCI Federation House, New Delhi, the 11th India Maize Summit was jointly organized by FICCI and ICAR–Indian Institute of Maize Research (IIMR).
11th Maize Summit
  • Chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the summit focused on accelerating India’s maize potential for food security, farmer income, and biofuel advancement.
Overview:
  • Theme: Productivity, Innovation & Commercial Use (especially ethanol)
  • Target: Double maize output from current 42.3 million tonnes to 86 million tonnes by 2047
  • Emphasis on non-GM high-yield varieties, better starch content, and sustainable cultivation
  • Aim to make maize central to India’s ethanol blending goals, food processing, and biodegradable products.
