87th Senior National Badminton Championships

Current Context: The 87th Senior National Badminton Championships 2025 were held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from 22–28 Dec 2025 at the Chennupati Ramakotaiah Indoor Stadium.

• Organised by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) along with the Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association, the event was inaugurated by AP Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha.
• In Men’s Singles, Rithvik Sanjeevi (Tamil Nadu) clinched the title, while Surya Charishma Tamiri (Andhra Pradesh) won the Women’s Singles crown.
• Men’s Doubles was won by A. Hariharan & Ruban Kumar, and Women’s Doubles by Shikha Gautam & Ashwini Bhat K. In Mixed Doubles, Sathwik Reddy K & Radhika Sharma emerged champions.
• The championship highlighted India’s rising badminton talent, with Pullela Gopichand gracing the closing ceremony.
• It reinforced Andhra Pradesh’s growing role in promoting sports and nurturing future badminton stars.
