Current Context: On February 2, 2026, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Assago Industries Pvt. Ltd. signed an MoU in Andhra Pradesh.

  • It aims to set up India’s first indigenous Green Urea Plant at the Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub, Visakhapatnam.
  • The plant will have a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per day (TPD) of green urea. Inputs like green ammonia, captured CO₂, and renewable energy will be supplied by NGEL.
  • This project supports Atmanirbhar Bharat and India’s net-zero goals.
  • Significance: Ensures eco-friendly fertilizer production, reducing dependence on imports and cutting carbon emissions.
