Current Context: CSC registration is not a new government recruitment scheme for 2026. It is the continuing process through which an eligible person can register as a Village Level Entrepreneur, or VLE, and operate a Common Service Centre.
- CSCs function as local digital service points offering government and private-sector services such as certificates, utility payments, banking, insurance, education, healthcare and other Digital Seva facilities.
- An individual applicant must be an Indian citizen aged 18 years or above. A valid Telecentre Entrepreneur Course certificate number is generally mandatory for applying under the CSC VLE category.
- Applicants need an Aadhaar-linked mobile number and email address, photograph, identity and address proof, bank passbook or cancelled cheque, PAN and details of the proposed CSC location.
- Individual VLE applications are currently routed through the CSC cloud registration portal, while the older registration portal is mainly used for institutional or specially whitelisted categories.
- After submitting the form, an application reference number is generated. CSC verifies the personal, banking, infrastructure and kiosk details before issuing the CSC ID and Digital Seva credentials. Registration approval is not automatic.
- VLE registration itself is free of cost. Applicants should avoid agents who demand money for guaranteed CSC approval. However, the TEC course and the establishment of the centre may involve separate expenses.
- A CSC operator is an entrepreneur, not a salaried government employee. There is no guaranteed monthly salary; earnings depend on the services offered, customer transactions, applicable commissions and local demand.
- The purpose of CSC registration is to expand digital and government services in rural and underserved areas while creating local entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.
