Current Context: The Karnataka Government introduced Gruha Jyothi as one of its five guarantee schemes after coming to power in 2023. It was formally launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on 5 August 2023 at Kalaburagi. The electricity benefit had already come into effect from 1 July 2023.
