Current Context: The Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana continues to provide financial assistance of ₹25,000 in six stages to eligible girl children in Uttar Pradesh, from birth to higher education, through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

  • The scheme was launched in October 2019 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and is implemented by the Department of Women Welfare.
  • Purpose: The scheme aims to promote the birth, education, and empowerment of girl children, improve the child sex ratio, discourage female foeticide and child marriage, encourage school enrolment, and reduce the financial burden on families.

  • Eligibility: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh, with annual family income not exceeding ₹3 lakh. Benefits are available for up to two girl children per family, with special provisions for twin girls and adopted orphan girls.
  • Required Documents: Aadhaar Card, domicile certificate, income certificate, birth certificate of the girl child, bank account details, passport-size photograph, mobile number, and admission or educational certificates (where applicable).
  • Official Portal: Eligible families can apply online and check application status through the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Portal (mksy.up.gov.in).
