Current context: The government is preparing its way to implement the ‘Study in India’ Programme which was announced by the Finance Minister in Budget 2019
Study in India programme to attract Foreign Students

About “Study in India”:

  • Ministry: Ministry of Human Resource Development
  • Aim: To facilitate Internationalization of Higher Education in India
  • Objectives:
    1. To attract foreign students for Higher Education to India
    2. Use Higher Education as a soft power for diplomacy with neighbouring countries
    3. To increase India’s market share of global education exports
    4. Make Educational institutions of global standards to increase its global ranking
  • The programme is targeting to attract students from 30 plus countries from South-East Asia, the Middle East and Africa
  • It will offer seats for International students and fee waiver ranging from 100% to 25%
  • Top 100 partner institutions will be selected on the basis of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading
