  • Government eMarketplace (GeM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to set up a GeM Organizational Transformation Team (GOTT) Project Management Unit (PMU) in the State.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind paid tribute to the freedom fighter Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary and also to first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa on his birth anniversary on 28th January 2020.

  • Slovenian Prime Minister Marjan Sarec has resigned on 27th January and called for fresh elections. Sarec, is Slovenia's youngest-ever Prime Minister.
  • The World Health Organization (WHO) has increased the global risk degree of the novel coronavirus strain 2019-nCoV from moderate to high. In its report, WHO confirmed cases globally till 26th Jan reached 2,014, including 1,985 in China.
  • The five day Ganga Yatra has begun in Uttar Pradesh with the aim to create awareness about the holy river. The two yatras will cover more than 1350 kilometre route in 27 districts of the state.
  • Assam's tableau which portrayed the unique craftsmanship and culture of the state has been chosen for the Best Tableaux awards for Republic Day Parade, 2020 followed by Odisha and Uttar Pradesh at the second position.
