Current context: The 18th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) concluded on 19th January 2020 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dhaka International Film Festival 
  • The DIFF began on 11th January and a total of 220 films from 74 countries were shown during the nine-day long festival.
  • The Rainbow Film Festival organises the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) since 1992 with support from Bangladesh government and many other organizations including the High Commission of India, Dhaka.
  • The theme of DIFF 2020 was ‘better film, better audience, better society’.
  • The list of the award for different categories are:
    1. The Best Film Award in the Asian Competition section: Iranian film ‘Castle of Dreams’.
    2. The Special Jury Award in the Asian Competition segment: Sri Lankan director Prasanna Vithanage’s film ‘Children of the Sun’.
    3. The Best Actress Award: Arezoo Ariapoor, Ferestha Afshar and Hasiba Ebrahimi for the film ‘Hava, Maryamk, Ayesha’.
    4. The Best Actor Award: Lousie Abuel for the film ‘Edward’.
    5. The Best Film Award in the Bangladesh Panorama Section: ‘No Dorai’ directed by Taneem Rahman Angshu.
    6. Best Audience Award in Cinema of the World Category: Indian film ‘Finally Love’ directed by Anjan Dutt.
